Chelsea secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in an action-packed Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge.
The game saw Cole Palmer make history, becoming the first player to score four goals in a single Premier League half. His outstanding performance was the driving force behind Chelsea’s win, as they bounced back from an early setback.
Brighton took the lead just seven minutes in through a header by Georginio Rutter, capitalizing on an error by Chelsea’s defense.
However, Chelsea quickly regrouped, and Palmer took control of the game. He scored four goals within 20 minutes, including a penalty, a free-kick, and two well-placed finishes, to give Chelsea a commanding lead. Brighton managed to pull one back through Carlos Baleba in the 34th minute, but Palmer’s brilliance put the game out of reach for the Seagulls.
In the second half, Brighton tried to push back, but Chelsea held firm, with Palmer coming close to adding more to his tally. The Blues also saw a Marc Cucurella goal disallowed for offside, but they comfortably saw out the game for their fourth consecutive win, moving them up to third place in the Premier League standings.
