Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II dies at age 99

 

The British Royal Family today, April 9, announced the death of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99.

Prince Philip, before his death was married to Queen Elizabeth II for 73 years. He was said to be the Queens’s rock during her 69-year reign.

He spent his final days at Windsor Castle with his wife after a 28-night stay in hospital having been admitted in mid-February for an infection and a pre-existing heart condition.

Announcing his death via a tweet on twitter The Royal Family wrote;

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss

“Further announcements will made in due course.”
