Popular singer Timi Dakolo has revealed how he met his wife Busola Dakolo.
The “Iyawo Mi” singer revealed that he met his wife in church, stressing that she was initially not interested in a romantic relationship with him, but he persisted.
He said she always feels embarrassed when he picks her up with the branded Picanto, which he won on the first season of Idols West Africa in 2007.
In a recent interview with Pulse, Dakolo said, “I met my wife in the church. I went to her and asked her to be my date for a ball. She gave me her number but wasn’t answering her phone when I called. I kept going to the area hoping to see her again. Then I saw her one day and I asked her why she was not answering my calls and she said her phone was stolen.
“I sympathized with her and we became friends. I started developing feelings for her and she wanted to friend-zone me but I refused. I suffered to win her love. I was taking her to work to and fro. At one time, she used to feel embarrassed whenever I picked her up with the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols. I said, ‘Okay, don’t worry. I will shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did.”
Timi and Busola got married in 2012 and they have three lovely children together.
