Senegalese-born TikTok star Khabane Lame has overtaken American TikToker Charli D’Amelio to officially become the most followed TikToker in the world.
The 22-year-old Khaby, who has the username @khaby.lame, has just about 143.4 million followers as of the time of this writing, while D’Amelio (@charlidamelio) currently has around 142.5 million followers.
Charli D’Amelio who originally joined TikTok in 2019 and gathered followers through videos of viral dances and trends on the platform. It didn’t take long for her to attain the top spot as the most-followed creator, a position she continuously held until Lame’s takeover in June 2022.

Lame is a content creator and comedian who gained attention on the social media app for his hilarious videos and silent skits commenting on supposed “life hacks” and other content. He creates a lot of stitches and duets with other accounts that have brought in millions of views, likes, and followers.
Commenting on his creative process in an interview with Forbes, Lame said, “Every day, I spend at least three hours looking for the right video to parody. I always try to be careful to not offend anyone with my videos, and I always prefer to joke with light-hearted parody. I think the reason that I am silent speaks louder—it is accessible to more people than if I would make my videos in English. I speak a universal language that everyone understands.”
